‘Copycat’ and ‘A Time to Kill’ Lead LEGEND’s Packed June Premiere Season

For those of you that are looking for Freeview thrills, LEGEND has unveiled a packed slate of June channel premieres, led by a mixture of Hollywood thrillers, cult favourites and crime dramas, with titles including Copycat, A Time to Kill and the first two entries in the long-running Rise of the Footsoldier franchise set to make their debut on the channel.

The broadcaster’s latest schedule reflects the blend of classic genre entertainment and star-driven features that has become a hallmark of its programming. Across the month, viewers can expect serial killer thrillers, action-packed adventures, westerns and gangster dramas, with ten channel premieres arriving throughout June.

Among the most notable additions is Jon Amiel’s Copycat, screening on 28 June. The acclaimed 1995 psychological thriller stars Sigourney Weaver as a criminal psychologist who becomes entangled in the hunt for a murderer recreating the crimes of notorious serial killers. Holly Hunter co-stars in a film that has maintained a strong reputation among thriller fans since its original release.

Another major title arriving on the channel is Joel Schumacher’s A Time to Kill, which premieres on 14 June. Adapted from John Grisham’s bestselling novel, the courtroom drama features an impressive cast led by Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock and Samuel L. Jackson. Set in the American South, the film examines a racially charged murder case that places a young lawyer at the centre of an increasingly volatile trial.

British crime cinema also receives significant attention this month with the arrival of Rise of the Footsoldier on 19 June and Rise of the Footsoldier: Part II on 26 June. The films introduced audiences to Carlton Leach, portrayed by Ricci Harnett, and launched a franchise that has remained a fixture of the UK gangster genre for nearly two decades. Craig Fairbrass, Roland Manookian and Terry Stone feature across the early chapters of the series.

Action fans are equally well served. Gene Hackman headlines Ted Kotcheff’s Vietnam-era rescue drama Uncommon Valor, premiering on 6 June, while Bruce Willis and Jesse Metcalfe lead the sequel Fortress: Sniper’s Eye on 27 June.

Elsewhere, Orlando Bloom stars in international heist thriller The Shanghai Job, arriving on 20 June, while Scott Glenn takes centre stage in Man on Fire, the 1987 thriller screening on 12 June. The latter should not be confused with Tony Scott’s later adaptation starring Denzel Washington.

Western enthusiasts can look forward to two very different takes on the genre. Texas Rangers arrives on 13 June, chronicling the formation of the famous law enforcement group following the American Civil War, while Robert Benton’s highly regarded Bad Company premieres on 18 June. Released in 1972, the film stars Jeff Bridges and Barry Brown in a revisionist western that explores the experiences of young men attempting to evade military service during the Civil War.

The June schedule highlights LEGEND’s continued focus on delivering a broad range of films from across multiple decades. From award-winning courtroom drama and psychological suspense to British crime sagas and western adventures, the month offers viewers an opportunity to revisit established favourites alongside films making their first appearance on the channel.

All ten premieres will air throughout June, beginning with Uncommon Valor on 6 June and concluding with Copycat on 28 June.
