‘Heresy’ and ‘This Is Not A Test’ Head To Shudder This May

Shudder has confirmed its May schedule for the UK and Ireland, with a mix of returning television, original films and catalogue additions set to arrive across the month.

Crypt Keeper

Leading the line-up is the return of Tales From the Crypt, which begins streaming on 1 May as a Shudder exclusive. The anthology series, originally broadcast in the 1990s and based on EC Comics, is hosted by the Crypt Keeper, voiced by John Kassir. Known for its blend of horror and dark humour, the show features a wide range of guest appearances from actors including Brad Pitt, Demi Moore, Steve Buscemi and Christopher Reeve. Several episodes were also directed by established filmmakers such as Robert Zemeckis, Tobe Hooper and William Friedkin.

Heresy Shudder

Launching alongside it on 1 May is Heresy, a new Shudder exclusive film set in a medieval Dutch village. The story follows a young woman caught between her religious beliefs and the growing influence of a community gripped by fear, as events in the surrounding woods begin to escalate. The cast includes Anneke Sluiters, Len Leo Vincent and Reinout Bussemaker.

This is not a test

Later in the month, This Is Not A Test arrives on 22 May. Adapted from Courtney Summers’ novel, the film centres on a group of students sheltering inside their high school as their town collapses into chaos. Olivia Holt leads the cast, alongside Froy Gutierrez and Luke MacFarlane.

The final original release for May is Smothered, which premieres on 29 May. The film follows an artist dealing with memory loss after an accident, whose life becomes unsettled when an elderly woman arrives claiming to be his mother. It stars Rio Dewanto, Faradina Mufti and Vonny Anggraini.

Possum

Alongside its original content, Shudder is also adding several library titles on 1 May. These include Japanese ghost stories The Bride From Hades, The Ghost of Yotsuya and The Snow Woman, each drawing from traditional folklore. Other additions include Chained For Life, a drama set around a film production, and Possum, Matthew Holness’ British horror feature starring Sean Harris as a troubled puppeteer confronting his past. Also joining the service is Godless, which follows a woman undergoing extreme treatment linked to religious belief.

The full line-up will be available throughout May, with all titles accessible via Shudder across supported platforms. For more information and to watch Shudder, visit: www.shudder.com/
