Grisly First Look at ‘Pig Hill’ Before FrightFest Premiere

Kevin Lewis’s latest descent into horror, Pig Hill, has unveiled its first trailer as it prepares for a high-profile World Premiere at FrightFest 2025 on 23 August. The film, an adaptation of Nancy Williams’s cult novel, promises to drag audiences deep into the grotesque mythology of Meadville, Pennsylvania’s most enduring urban legend.

At the heart of Pig Hill is Carrie, played by Rainey Qualley, whose growing obsession with the local “pig people” legend leads her into a terrifying investigation. These mutants, said to abduct and breed with women, have haunted the town’s imagination for decades. When a tenth woman disappears, Carrie’s disbelief begins to crumble. Joined by her brother Chris (Shiloh Fernandez) and ally Andy (Shane West), she uncovers horrors that may be rooted less in myth and more in a brutal reality.

Lewis, best known for Willy’s Wonderland, describes Pig Hill as “a punk-rock fever mind trip of a movie,” blending gory set-pieces with psychological unease. Speaking about the adaptation, he said: “It is a poignant story of obsession, love, and the terrible consequences of what happens when reality and fantasy blur. It is a tale of the remarkable power of the mind and how it will do anything to protect itself.”

The project reunites Lewis with genre veterans while introducing fresh talent. Qualley, known for Shut In, steps into her first lead horror role, while West (Salem) and Fernandez (Evil Dead) bring experience in the genre to bolster the cast. Filming took place on location in Meadville, the real-life backdrop for Williams’s book and home to decades of whispered accounts about mutant hill-dwellers.

Produced by Empty Jug Productions in association with Concourse Media, Pig Hill signals Lewis’s return to festival circuits after a career that has spanned award-winning features and cult hits. The trailer hints at a visceral blend of body horror, local folklore, and psychological dread, setting the stage for one of FrightFest’s most talked-about screenings.

Pig Hill premieres 23 August at FrightFest 2025 in London.
