‘Nobody 2’ Turns a Family Holiday Into Total Carnage
Universal has dropped first details for Nobody 2, the sequel to the 2021 sleeper hit that reimagined Bob Odenkirk as a battle-hardened suburban vigilante. The new film reunites Odenkirk with co-stars Connie Nielsen, RZA and Christopher Lloyd, while introducing Sharon Stone and Colin Hanks as part of a new rogue’s gallery. Set for release on 15 August 2025, the follow-up finds Hutch Mansell caught up in another round of mayhem, this time under the flaming neon lights of a failing American theme park.

Following the events of the first film, Hutch is still paying off a $30 million debt to the Russian mob through contract work that has left his family fraying at the seams. Hoping to reconnect with his wife and children, he organises a family getaway to Wild Bill’s Majestic Midway and Waterpark in the fictional town of Plummerville. However, what begins as a reluctant return to a childhood vacation spot soon spirals into violence after Hutch crosses paths with local troublemakers linked to a corrupt sheriff and a deranged theme park magnate.
The sequel brings in Indonesian director Timo Tjahjanto (The Night Comes for Us), known for his high-impact action stylings and affinity for practical effects. With Nobody 2, Tjahjanto steps into the shoes of original director Ilya Naishuller to deliver what the filmmakers promise is a more chaotic and stylised chapter in the growing franchise.

The film’s antagonist comes in the form of Sharon Stone, playing a volatile crime boss with a penchant for theatrical violence. John Ortiz features as the sleazy operator of the rundown theme park, while Colin Hanks appears as the small-town sheriff whose badge comes with a long history of dirty dealings.
Derek Kolstad returns to write the screenplay alongside Aaron Rabin, having created the original concept and previously written several John Wick films. The producing team includes David Leitch and Kelly McCormick for 87North, with Odenkirk also credited as a producer through his own company, Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment.

Nobody made a modest but profitable impact at the box office in 2021 and became a streaming hit during lockdown, with critics praising its stripped-down action and Odenkirk’s unlikely transformation into an action lead. The film’s final scenes teased a wider world and deeper mythology, and Nobody 2 looks set to build on that foundation while retaining the tongue-in-cheek brutality of its predecessor.
Production wrapped earlier this year, and marketing has now begun in earnest with the trailer below.
