The Boundaries Between Reality and Fantasy Blur with ‘Ingress’

Ingress is a visually stunning and emotionally charged film that is set to take viewers on an extraordinary adventure through alternate realities. The highly anticipated sci-fi film, directed by award-winning filmmaker Rachel Noll James, is set to release on multiple digital platforms following a successful theatrical and festival run. This joint US/UK production by Emergence Films will be available on Cable and all TVOD platforms including InDemand, iTunes, Google Play, Amazon TVOD, and Vudu, courtesy of Glass House Distribution.

Ingress has been noted for for its innovative approach to both storytelling and production. It tells the gripping story of Riley (portrayed by James), a woman endowed with the ability to traverse between alternate realities. After the tragic death of her husband Toby (Johnny Ferro), Riley embarks on a journey through these realities, seeking solace and a way to reunite with him. Along the way, she encounters Daniel (Christopher Clark), a renowned author with a unique gift who aids her in navigating her profound grief and finding a path to healing.

James not only directed and starred in the film but also co-wrote the screenplay with Webb Wilcoxen (who also co-wrote upcoming release The Dead Thing). This project marks the first narrative feature from Emergence Films, a company James co-founded with Sienna Beckman. The production took place on Bainbridge Island in the Pacific Northwest, supported by the Emergence Film Fund. This fund, created by James and Beckman, is entirely donor-backed and aims to finance the education and mentorship of emerging female filmmakers.

The Emergence Film Fund’s unique patron/artist relationship model is designed to revolutionize the way women create, distribute, and market independent films. By offering resources and guidance through the Emerging Filmmakers Program, the fund seeks to nurture the next generation of storytellers and ensure they have sustainable careers in the industry.

Ingress has already received significant accolades, including Best Feature, Best Director, and Lead Actress awards at the Climax Festival International de Cinéma Indépendent, among other festival recognitions. These accolades reflect the film’s impact and the compelling performances by its cast.

Rachel Noll James, an established writer, director, and producer, has previously received the Best Feature Writer award at the L.A. Femme Festival for Don’t Pass Me By. Her film The Storyteller won the Silver Prize in the Family Film category at the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards and was released on Hallmark Movies Now.
