Tarot movie

Tarot begins with a group of friends, led by Haley (Slater), who gather for a birthday celebration in a secluded mansion. In their search for entertainment, they discover a box of mysterious Tarot cards in the basement and decide to read each other’s horoscopes. Unknowingly, they awaken a dark force tied to the deck. Each friend receives a card that foretells their doom, setting off a chain of gruesome events.

As the friends return to their daily lives, they begin to encounter terrifying manifestations of their Tarot readings. Elise (Thompson) is the first to fall victim, followed by a series of horrifying deaths that mirror the prophecies. The group’s desperate search for answers leads them to Alma Astron (Olwen Fouéré), an expert on Tarot and the occult. Alma reveals the dark history of the cursed deck, which was created by a grief-stricken astrologer in the 18th century who cursed the cards to avenge the death of her daughter.

The friends’ only hope lies in destroying the deck, but as they attempt to do so, they face relentless attacks from the supernatural entities represented by their Tarot cards. The climax of the film is a race against time, as Haley tries to perform a final reading to break the curse, risking her own life to save her friends.

With its gripping plot, atmospheric tension, and impressive special effects, Tarot is poised to become a standout horror film. The direction by Cohen and Halberg, coupled with Joseph Bishara’s haunting musical score, enhances the film’s eerie and unsettling mood.

Tarot is available to buy on digital platforms from 29th July 2024, courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
