The Independent Horror Society invites genre fans and creators to a roster of events that promise to energise the UK’s grassroots horror scene. Kicking off on Saturday 2 August, Genesis Cinema in Bethnal Green will play host to the 666 Film Challenge screening and Awards Ceremony, an afternoon devoted to recognising the most inventive independent horror short and feature entries from across the country. From 3pm, ticket-holders will be treated to a lengthy showcase of titles submitted to this year’s 666 Film Challenge, followed by live announcements of award winners in categories ranging from Best Micro Short to Best Feature. IHS members can secure a £3 discount with the code IHS_666g25x, while Pro members enjoy tickets for just £6.66 by selecting the promotional ticket type on the Genesis website. Redemption requires clicking the “Apply CEA card, E Tickets and Promotional codes” button before ticket selection. Far from a one-day affair, the Society also takes its Indie Film Showcase on a national tour beginning with a special Summerween pop-up at the Dead Northern Film Festival in York on 12 July. Following York, the roadshow rolls into Brighton on 7 August and lands in Manchester on 14 August, each outing delivering a curated slate of independent horror titles that rarely appear on UK cinema screens. IHS members can claim £2 off Brighton and Manchester tickets with the code LHSx2901 during checkout. Founded to unite horror enthusiasts and creators - filmmakers, writers and theatre producers - the Independent Horror Society operates on the principle that fans should shape the future of their favourite genre. The IHS Creators Fund empowers members to vote on which projects receive financial backing, ensuring that emerging talents earn support from the ground up. Over the years, the Fund has extended grants to shorts, features and stage works that challenge conventions and push horror in bold new directions. The Society’s commitment to creators extends beyond funding. Free creator membership includes access to an online Product Centre that reviews industry tools, priority invitations to in-person mixers and virtual networking sessions, and a suite of training guides on topics from practical effects to low-budget distribution. Members can also list their details in the IHS Directory, a searchable platform used by Pro subscribers (an eager network of fans, professionals and industry insiders) to discover fresh collaborators. By linking a passionate fanbase with the people who craft independent horror, the Independent Horror Society aims to forge a sustainable model for funding and distribution. The upcoming 666 Film Challenge screening and national Indie Film Showcase tour underline the Society’s mission to bring exciting, under-the-radar films to wider audiences while nurturing the next generation of horror talent. Tickets for the 666 Film Challenge can be purchased via the Genesis Cinema website, with membership discounts applied at checkout. Details of the Indie Film Showcase tour and membership benefits are available at horror-society.co.uk. Fans and creators alike are encouraged to join the Society and help shape an inclusive future where independent horror thrives. for more information, visit independenthorrorsociety.com/
