Kevin Williamson Talks About ‘Scream 7’ in New Featurette
Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group have released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Scream 7, offering the first extended look at franchise creator Kevin Williamson directing a Scream film for the first time. Titled Kevin Williamson on Directing, the featurette is available now and includes commentary from returning star Neve Campbell alongside franchise newcomer Isabel May.

The short film arrives as the studio continues its push towards the theatrical release of Scream 7, scheduled to open exclusively in cinemas on 27 February 2026. Williamson, who wrote the original Scream screenplay in 1996 and has remained closely involved with the series across its various iterations, steps into the director’s chair following a turbulent development period for the seventh instalment.
The new film returns focus to Sidney Prescott, once again played by Campbell, who has built a quiet life away from the violence that defined her past. That stability is shattered when a new Ghostface killer emerges, targeting her daughter Tatum, portrayed by May. The threat forces Sidney to confront familiar horrors as she attempts to protect her family and bring the killings to an end.

Williamson directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Guy Busick, based on a story by Busick and James Vanderbilt. The production follows the departure of previous directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and a subsequent creative overhaul that led to Williamson taking a more hands-on role than at any point since the franchise began.
The cast blends returning faces with new additions. Courteney Cox reprises her role as Gale Weathers, while Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding return as Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin. Joining them are Anna Camp, Joel McHale, Mckenna Grace, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Ethan Embry, Tim Simons and Mark Consuelos. Roger L Jackson once again provides the voice of Ghostface, with Matthew Lillard, Scott Foley and David Arquette also confirmed to appear.

Filming took place in early 2025, with production concluding in March. The film will also mark a first for the series with an IMAX release. Music duties are handled by Marco Beltrami, returning after scoring the first four films, with recordings completed in Budapest last year.
The newly released featurette positions Scream 7 as both a continuation and a recalibration, spotlighting Williamson’s return to the centre of the franchise at a pivotal moment in its history.
Look out for Scream 7, only in cinemas from 27 February.
