Maggie Gyllenhaal’s ‘The Bride!’ Reveals New Trailer
She’s ALIVE! Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new trailer for The Bride!, offering a clearer look at Maggie Gyllenhaal’s reworking of a foundational horror story. The film is scheduled to arrive in US, UK and Irish cinemas on 6 March 2026, bringing Gyllenhaal’s second feature as writer and director to the big screen following The Lost Daughter.

Set in 1930s Chicago, The Bride! reframes familiar elements of Bride of Frankenstein through a markedly different lens. Christian Bale plays a solitary Frankenstein’s monster figure who seeks out pioneering scientist Dr Euphronious, portrayed by Annette Bening, in the hope of ending his isolation. Their experiment results in the resurrection of a murdered young woman, brought to life as the Bride and played by Jessie Buckley. The consequences extend far beyond the laboratory, unfolding into a volatile mix of violence, obsession and social unrest that draws police attention and fuels a radical underground movement.
Buckley’s casting reunites her with Gyllenhaal following their collaboration on The Lost Daughter, while Bale’s involvement marks one of his most prominent genre roles in recent years. The cast also includes Peter Sarsgaard as a detective tracking the fallout of the experiment, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Penélope Cruz in supporting roles. Additional appearances come from Julianne Hough, John Magaro, Jeannie Berlin and Louis Cancelmi.

Behind the camera, Gyllenhaal has assembled a creative team drawn from across prestige cinema. Lawrence Sher serves as director of photography, shooting the film entirely with IMAX-certified digital cameras, while Dylan Tichenor edited the feature. The score comes from Hildur Guðnadóttir, whose music replaces an earlier attachment by Jonny Greenwood during post-production. Costume design is handled by Sandy Powell, with Randall Poster overseeing music supervision.
Originally developed at Netflix, The Bride! moved to Warner Bros. Pictures following a change in creative direction, with the studio backing Gyllenhaal’s vision and absorbing a production budget reported to be significantly lower than early projections. The film is produced by Gyllenhaal alongside Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler and Osnat Handelsman Keren, with executive producers Carla Raij, David Webb and Courtney Kivowitz.

The newly released trailer emphasises scale and period detail, foregrounding dance sequences, heightened emotion and the charged relationship between creator and creation. Rather than revisiting the Universal template directly, The Bride! appears to situate its monster mythology within a broader cultural context, linking the personal stakes of its characters to wider social upheaval. The result looks very interesting indeed!
With its release date now fixed, The Bride! represents Warner Bros.’ most ambitious reimagining of a classic monster property in recent years, positioning Gyllenhaal at the centre of a major studio genre release.
