Festive Fear Takes Over Shudder This December

As the year draws to a close, Shudder is closing out 2025 with one of its most densely packed monthly line-ups to date, rolling out a mix of original films, returning series and seasonal specials throughout December. The AMC Networks-owned streamer continues to double down on exclusives, with new premieres landing weekly across film and television, many of them timed to the festive period.

Leading the month’s film slate is Reflections in a Dead Diamond, which debuted on 5 December. Directed by Natasha Kermani, the Shudder Original follows a sharply dressed former spy in his seventies whose quiet existence in a luxury hotel on the Côte d’Azur is disrupted by the sudden disappearance of a woman in a neighbouring room. The film leans into themes of memory, identity and regret, with its sunlit setting contrasting a past filled with secrets tied to filmmaking and fractured recollections.

Arriving a week later on 12 December, Influencers marks the latest Shudder Original from director Kurtis David Harder. Set in southern France, the thriller centres on a couple whose carefully managed life unravels after crossing paths with a visiting social media personality. Cassandra Naud stars as a woman concealing a fixation with murder and stolen identities, while Georgina Campbell plays the outsider whose curiosity pushes events in dangerous directions.

The platform rounds out its December film premieres with The Jester 2, launching on 26 December. Colin Krawchuk returns to expand the mythology of his supernatural trickster, placing a teenage magician in a deadly confrontation on Halloween night. The sequel leans further into occult imagery and illusion-based peril, positioning survival itself as the ultimate performance.

On the television side, Shudder is leaning heavily into seasonal programming. The Boulet Brothers’ Holiday of Horrors lands on 16 December, offering a festive anthology featuring four original shorts. Contributions come from the Boulet Brothers themselves alongside David Dastmalchian, Akeela Cooper and Kate Siegel, with performers including Bonnie Aarons, Steve Agee and Tracie Thoms.

Returning series also play a major role. The Creep Tapes continues its second season with new episodes dropping weekly until the finale on 19 December, including a Christmas Eve-themed instalment. Meanwhile, The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans season two marches toward its conclusion on 9 December, bringing back fourteen standout competitors from past seasons to compete for a cash prize and tour headliner slot.

Rounding out the month is The Occupant of the Room, part of Kier-La Janisse’s The Haunted Season anthology. Premiering on 1 December, the film adapts Algernon Blackwood’s classic ghost story, tapping into the long-standing tradition of telling unsettling tales during the Christmas period.

With its December schedule, Shudder reinforces its position as a year-round destination for genre programming, balancing new voices, returning franchises and carefully timed seasonal releases.
