ARROW Brings J-Horror and More for a Killer Halloween Line-up

ARROW is going all out this October with a chilling and diverse collection of films and horror content to get viewers in the Halloween spirit. The cult streaming service is showcasing an impressive roster of J-horror favourites, werewolf scares, supernatural frights, and even curated picks from horror maestro Michael Dougherty. Titled “ARROWeen,” this fright-filled month offers something for every horror fan, from gory slasher remakes to subtle psychological terrors.

J Horror Rising

Among the biggest draws is J-Horror Rising, a collection of seven iconic Japanese horror films that gained massive popularity at the turn of the millennium. These films, which feature everything from deadly curses to urban legends, include Shikoku, Isola: Multiple Personality Girl, and the much-praised Noroi: The Curse. Fans of the J-horror genre will appreciate this selection for its blend of supernatural chills, eerie atmospheres, and a deep dive into the genre’s most disturbing tales.

Shocktober 31

Adding to the October excitement, ARROW introduces Shocktober31, a season-long celebration filled with cult horror classics that will keep audiences terrified every day of the month. With movies like Pandemonium and Noroi: The Curse, viewers will have plenty to choose from to fill their Halloween viewing schedule.

Michael Dougherty selects

As part of the October festivities, ARROW has invited horror director Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat, Krampus) to select his top films from the ARROW library. Dougherty’s choices, including One Missed Call and Basket Case, are a testament to his love for lesser-known horror gems that still pack a punch. His picks highlight the beauty of horror films that may not have blockbuster budgets but still deliver on scares and creativity.

In addition to these seasonal treats, ARROW is offering a few exclusive new releases. Sator (October 4), a folk horror film about a family haunted by a supernatural entity, and Rent-A-Pal (October 11), a psychological thriller featuring Star Trek alum Wil Wheaton, are just a few of the spine-tingling new titles arriving this month. These fresh releases are sure to add to the growing collection of premium horror content that ARROW is becoming known for.

If that’s not enough, ARROW is also showcasing a series of short films under its Trick? and Treat? collections. These bite-sized horrors pack plenty of frights into their short runtimes and are perfect for viewers looking for a quick scare. The shorts include The Monkey’s Paw, a new take on the classic tale, and We Forgot About The Zombies, which blends dark humour with undead chaos.

Arrow Play October

Rounding out the October line-up is Celluloid Screams Selects, curated by the team behind the renowned horror festival. This collection features genre staples like The Endless and Hellraiser 2, bringing a blend of classic horror and contemporary cult favourites to ARROW subscribers.

With this vast array of terrifying films, including the supernatural, psychological, and even comedic, ARROW’s October collection is set to be a treat for horror enthusiasts. Whether you’re revisiting old favourites like Slumber Party Massacre or discovering new scares in Broadcast Signal Intrusion, ARROW has something to satisfy every horror craving this Halloween season.
