Caleb Landry Jones Unleashed in ‘DogMan’

The pulse-quickening thriller DogMan, featuring the formidable Caleb Landry Jones, is set to make its digital debut in the UK and Ireland starting 11 March. This latest venture from renowned filmmaker Luc Besson, acclaimed for works like The Fifth Element, La Femme Nikita, and the Transporter series, has already made waves in the film industry. Garnering the prestigious Graffetta d’Oro for Best Film at the 2023 Venice Film Festival, DogMan is a testament to Besson’s unique and uncompromising vision, delivering a blend of intensity and heartfelt narrative.
Caleb Landry Jones, celebrated for his Cannes-winning performance in Nitram, takes on the role of Doug, a character whose turbulent past finds solace in the company of his canine companions. The film also stars Jojo T Gibbs (known from Fresh), Christopher Denham (Billions), Clemens Schick (Das Boot), and Marisa Berenson (Barry Lyndon), creating a robust and dynamic ensemble.
With an emotionally resonant score by Éric Serra, a regular collaborator of Besson’s, and the cinematic expertise of Colin Wandersman, DogMan promises a visually and auditorily immersive experience. The film’s production design, overseen by César award-winner Hugues Tissandier, further adds to its allure, ensuring a visual feast that complements the intense storyline.

Described as a cross between Taxi Driver and Lassie, DogMan is inspired by a startling real-life story. It explores the life of Doug, who, as a child, endured abuse at the hands of his father, leading him to form a profound connection with dogs while living in the family kennel. As an adult, wheelchair-bound and somewhat of a loner, Doug runs a stray dog’s home while nurturing his passion for theatre and cabaret. However, his life takes a dark turn when the state department shuts down his shelter, and a vengeful mobster he once crossed paths with seeks retribution. What unfolds is a tale of loyalty, revenge, and the unbreakable bond between a man and his dogs.
DogMan invites audiences to a thrilling journey into Doug’s world, filled with exhilarating set pieces, moments of raw violence, and an unforgettable array of lovable dogs. The film is poised to be a standout addition to digital platforms, offering a unique experience that is both touching and slightly terrifying.
