“Punch” the British Seaside Slasher Comes to Digital Release

Punch 2023

Punch, the latest offering from director Andy Edwards, is set to make a splash in the world of horror with its digital release on 22nd January, courtesy of Miracle Media. This British horror film had its exhilarating premiere at FrightFest 2023 and is now ready to terrify a wider audience.

Filmed in the coastal town of Hastings, Punch introduces a terrifyingly unique villain – a petrifying puppet named Mr Punch. This bloodthirsty character, armed with a baton and fueled by maniacal laughter, brings a reign of terror over the town, targeting both tourists and locals in a series of gruesome attacks. The film weaves a narrative of brutal violence with a sinister undercurrent, asking: What motivates Mr Punch, and are there more malevolent forces at play?

The story follows ambitious student Frankie, portrayed by Alina Allison (Cuttlefish), who returns to her troubled mother Julia, played by Kierston Wareing (Fish Tank). With Julia’s unsettling new partner Elton (Jamie Lomas – The Wind That Shakes the Barley) in the picture, Frankie is eager to leave Hastings behind. But her plans for a final night of fun with friends soon turn into a nightmare, as the town’s folklore horrifyingly comes to life.

Punch 2023

Punch stands out with its quintessentially British take on the slasher genre, combining elements of folk horror to give a ritualistic depth to Mr Punch’s rampage. The masked madman’s distinct appearance and squeaky voice make him an unforgettable antagonist in the horror genre. The film does not hold back on the gore, delivering a visceral experience that is both frightful and fascinating.

As the story unfolds, the film delves into the darker aspects of the seaside town, creating a backdrop that’s as chilling as the violence inflicted by Mr Punch. With its gripping plot and a memorable villain, Punch is poised to be a new favorite among horror enthusiasts, especially those looking for a fresh take on the slasher formula.

Be prepared for a blood-curdling experience as Punch releases on VOD in the UK on January 22nd, 2024. This film is not just a slasher; it’s a gruesome exploration of folklore and terror by the British seaside – and that’s the way to do it.
