Megalodon spotted in Thames

A breathtaking spectacle unfolded this Tuesday morning along the River Thames, as three colossal fins, said to belong to Megalodons, cut through the water’s surface, bringing the routine hustle and bustle of the city to a standstill. The startling apparitions foreshadow the upcoming premiere of the hotly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster hit, The Meg, titled The Meg 2: The Trench, slated for release in theatres on the 4th of August, 2023.

Eyewitnesses reported sightings of the gigantic fins gliding along the river and circling around boats, causing quite a stir in the area spanning from Butler’s Wharf to Tower Bridge. The mysterious spectacle was later unveiled to be an elaborate marketing stunt by Warner Bros. Pictures to stir up excitement for the film’s imminent summer release.

Crafted by expert hands, these three behemoth structures are modelled after the iconic Megalodon sharks that feature prominently in the film franchise. The largest of these fins rises an awe-inspiring 4.5 metres above the water, with their body sections stretching over an imposing 20 metres in length.

In the summer of 2018, The Meg devoured box office records, raking in over $530 million, cementing its status as a fan favourite. Audiences are now poised on the edge of their seats, awaiting even more gripping adventures and suspenseful underwater action.

Under the helm of Director Ben Wheatley, Meg 2: The Trench boasts a stellar cast including Jason Statham, Wu Jing, Sophia Cai, Page Kennedy, Sergio Peris-Mancheta, Skyler Samuels, Sienna Guillory, and Cliff Curtis. The narrative follows a courageous research team as they journey into the uncharted depths of the ocean. When their exploratory mission descends into pandemonium, they are forced to outwit, outrun, and outswim their gigantic predators in an adrenaline-fueled race against time.

Warner Bros. Pictures is set to release Meg 2: The Trench in the United Kingdom on August 4th, 2023.

To elaborate, these extraordinary fins were sculpted meticulously over a six-week period. The tallest fin, including the submerged section, measures a total of 5.5 metres from the sea level. The combined length of all three fins exceeds 15 metres and weighs over a whopping 300 kilograms. The mythical Meg, as per the franchise, is believed to measure between 15 and 18 metres in length and tip the scales at an astonishing 67 tons.

Oh, and a group of sharks really is called a ‘shiver’ (hence the title of this story). 🙂
