Corin Hardy launches cinema screenings with Edgar Wright and more
Recently we unveiled our plans to work with an independent cinema in East Sussex to host a pair of horror films over the Halloween weekend.
Yesterday, Picture House Uckfield had more exciting news as it revealed that it will work in conjunction with director Corin Hardy (The Nun, The Hallow) and Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) to screen some of Corins favourite horror classics this November. The schedule includes An American Werewolf in London (13th Nov), Evil Dead 2 (14th Nov) and John Carpenter’s The Thing (15th Nov).
Corin explained:
“To draw an audience out without the appeal of a new release, we needed an angle that was unique to being out at the cinema and would make each screening a one-off experience, so I called on a number of my filmmaker friends to select films that inspired them and then to introduce the movies with me at The Picture House in person, or for those in Hollywood or outside of the UK, to introduce them live through Zoom.
“I’m thrilled to report that my friend Edgar Wright was the first to respond to my call to arms, with a solid ‘Of course’, and have a very exciting line up to follow!.”
This is fantastic news for the cinema that has managed to stay open thus far, hosting COVID-safe screenings while many other venues have been forced to close.
Tickets for the screenings will be available at picturehouseuckfield.com from midday on Friday 30 October.
And don’t forget, you can still get one of the remaining tickets for our Halloween screenings this weekend.
