Grimm Up North
GRIMM UP NORTH has announced their Opening Night Gala Premiere film RETREAT, a new British horror/thriller starring Jamie Bell, Cillian Murphy and Thandie Newton. The Special Opening Night event includes champagne reception and aftershow party at Manchester 235 Casino with special celebrity guests

Grimm Up NorthKicking the festival off in suitably shocking style on Thursday October 6th, this year’s exclusive blood-red carpet Opening Night Gala Premiere film will be the gripping paranoid thriller RETREAT, starring Thandie Newton (MISSION IMPOSSIBLE II, CRASH), Cillian Murphy (THE DARK NIGHT, INCEPTION), and Jamie Bell (BILLY ELLIOT, THE ADVENTURES OF TIN TIN).

Following a personal tragedy, Kate (Newton) and Martin (Murphy) try to repair their increasingly strained relationship by revisiting a remote island cottage where they had once been happy. But their island retreat proves less idyllic than expected when an injured soldier (Bell) is washed ashore. He claims that a lethal airborne virus is devastating the outside world, and they must barricade themselves in the cottage if they wish to survive. But is he telling the truth…?

A tense and harrowing study in emotional and psychological trauma by a strong and committed cast, this taut, intelligent thriller marks an auspicious debut for writer-director Carl Tibbetts. The evening will begin at 7pm at Manchester 235 Casino where Grimm Up North will be holding a special drinks reception for guests before retiring to the AMC Cinemas to watch the special preview of the film.

The screening will be followed by an exclusive Q+A with the director and producer, before the party continues back at Manchester 235. Grimm Up North will be joined by Director Carl Tibbetts, and Manchester-born Producer Gary Sinyor, as well as a special secret host for the evening.

Grimm Up North runs October 6th – 9th at AMC Cinemas, Manchester. See the full line up Here and check for more details and tickets
