‘Other Mommy’ Unveils Sinister New Trailer Ahead of October Release

Jessica Chastain is facing the most unsettling version of herself in the final trailer for Other Mommy, Rob Savage’s supernatural horror about a young girl whose imaginary companion looks exactly like her mother. The film, produced by James Wan through Blumhouse Atomic Monster, arrives in cinemas next month.
Chastain stars in dual roles as Ursula, mother to young Bela, and “Other Mommy”, a sinister entity that has begun appearing inside the family home. The new trailer leans further into that relationship, positioning Bela’s growing attachment to the presence as the centre of a story that gradually turns domestic unease into something far more threatening.

Arabella Olivia Clark plays Bela, with Jay Duplass as her father Russ. The supporting cast also includes Dichen Lachman, Arian Moayed and Karen Allen.

Savage directs from a screenplay by Nathan Elston, adapting Josh Malerman’s bestselling 2024 novel Incidents Around the House. Malerman previously wrote Bird Box, while Savage’s horror credits include Host and The Boogeyman.

The project was first announced in 2025, with Chastain attached to star, before filming took place in Dublin between May and July that year. The title was subsequently changed to Other Mommy as additional cast members came aboard.

James Wan produces, continuing his long association with contemporary supernatural horror following Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring. Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Savage, Malerman and Ryan Lewis serve as executive producers.

The film’s marketing has already attracted attention through its first trailer, which played ahead of The Odyssey earlier this year and drew particular notice for the contorted appearance of the Other Mommy beneath a table. The final trailer builds on that imagery while giving a clearer sense of the emotional dynamic between Bela and the entity, whose interest in the child appears increasingly possessive.

That focus gives Other Mommy a different angle from the more familiar haunted-house setup. Rather than simply placing a supernatural presence around the family, the film makes it physically resemble Bela’s own mother, turning parental trust into the source of the threat.

With Chastain playing both sides of that relationship and Savage moving back into supernatural horror, Other Mommy arrives as one of October’s more prominent studio genre releases.
