Re-living Some of The Scariest Horror Film Scenes

Whether it is the bone-chilling music or the unassuming nature of characters when confronted by axe-wielding murderers, there are plenty of evocative horror films that live long in the memory of cinema enthusiasts.

Scariest horror films Ringu

The nature of the horror film industry has evolved over the years, but there are some scenes or moments that are still talked about today and they resonate for varying reasons.

For example, the Ring was perhaps one of the scariest Japanese-style horror films that has ever hit cinema screens. There is one scene that sticks out where the protagonist Anna climbs out of a well and is seen slowly trudging her way towards a TV screen. This videotape is particularly haunting as the character is slumped forward with her hair covering her eyes before giving viewers a huge fright.

Or you may still be reeling from some of the hidden details of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre when Leatherface first shows up and there is something rather unnerving about him.

Meanwhile, the masked intruders in the house in the film The Strangers provide a rather unexpected twist, and this puts into motion a series of horrifying incidents that will have left fans rather perturbed.

Of course, a significant change in production values has shifted attitudes toward horror films. The way developers have used CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) has been a game changer in terms of maximising the level of tension and drama for particular scenes.

Scariest horror films Halloween

Even in the classic film Halloween, the directors experimented with CGI and David Gordon’s 2018 iteration was one of the scariest of the lot. There is one long single take where the film’s main character, Michael Myers, embarks on a reign of terror as he casually walks into people’s homes before slashing them and he stops short of murdering a baby.

The horror film industry has been responsible for creating a stir in the gaming world. Some of the best scary films have inspired video games where you can play with characters as they try to make their way out of an asylum or you can kill voracious zombies.

Indeed, horror films have proved to be quite versatile and Halloween, for example, has been brilliantly adapted for the digital casino arena. You will notice that at some of the most reputable operators and fast payout casinos, such as Casumo, will have the Halloween game taking pride and place among the extensive horror selection of slots.

The horror films we have outlined are imbued with dramatic scenes, however, there are plenty of other stirring titles out there if you want to engross yourself in something even more shocking.

Mrs. Creed

Once upon a time, Mrs. Creed was a bored housewife, living in the backwoods of Maine with her husband, two kids and the family cat. Her husband Lewis, trying to keep the family unit together after some untimely deaths, buried the cat, their son, and, eventually, Mrs. Creed, in an Indian burial ground. Sadly, they didn't come back quite right. When she isn't rotting and stinking up the house, she spends her time watching and reviewing old horror films. Be careful though, she doesn't like much made after 1995 and is likely to carve you up, like she did her husband, if you try to tell her otherwise.
