That time of year is upon us folks. Between Halloween and Christmas we have the less celebrated Movember.
It’s the one time that a man can get away with letting his facial hair grow wild without fear of ridicule. As our own way of celebrating the occasion, here are five of the most bizarre moustaches to have graced the horror genre to date.
1. Christopher Lee in The Face of Fu Manchu
Or a more appropriate title would be The Moustache of Fu Manchu. Just look at it! It’s got evil genus written all over it. Christopher Lee has had an extremely varied career spanning over sixty -five years and crazy moustaches is just another addition to his long list of achievements.
2. Selma Hayak in Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant
Hollywood may have butcher Darren Shan’s young adult series of vampire novels, but at least they got one thing right: Truska, the bearded woman is still just as crazy as you would expect her to be. Selma Hayek was sadly underused in what was otherwise an intriguing character.
3. Otis Driftwood in House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects
The beard and moustache add another layer of craziness to the murderous, psychopathic hillbilly from Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses and Devil’s Rejects. After all, he is the Devil and he is here to do the Devil’s work.
4. Johnny Depp in Tusk
His involvement in Kevin Smith’s Tusk was kept top secret until the last minute and even when he appeared Johnny Depp hid his face behind the most ridiculously stereotypical French Canadian sleuth moustache ever.
5. Donald Sutherland in Invasion of the Body Snatchers
It may not seem like anything special but combined with that ‘70s hairstyle and clothing when he let’s out that ear piercing scream after being possessed at the end (no it’s not a spoiler everyone knows what happens) and we’re in Weirdsville.
If you were in need of inspiration for your moustache, look no further than the guys above. And feel free to share your efforts with Love Horror.
