‘Nervous’ Teaser Reveals a Silent Nightmare Ahead of World Premiere
A silent vinyl record, a disintegrating marriage and the gradual disappearance of men’s voices provide the unsettling foundations for Nervous, the new psychological horror from filmmaker Abner Pastoll. A teaser trailer has now been released ahead of the film’s world premiere, where it has the significant task of opening Tubi FrightFest 2026 at London’s ODEON Leicester Square on 27 August.

Nervous stars Sarah Bolger as Sarah, who moves with her husband Sungsoo (Sungsoo Yune) to a house in the Korean countryside. Their relocation is intended to give a troubled marriage another chance, although whatever peace they might have found is disturbed by the discovery of an unmarked vinyl record.
The record contains nothing but silence. Once Sarah listens to it, however, something begins to change. She gradually loses the ability to hear men’s voices, cutting her off from her husband and leaving her increasingly unsure of what she can trust. At the same time, she becomes fascinated by their enigmatic neighbour Eunbyeol, played by Ko Asung.

As Sarah returns to the mysterious record, paranoia and hallucinations begin to take hold, alongside desires that threaten to push her further from Sungsoo. Whether her deteriorating state has a psychological explanation or something more sinister is at work forms the central mystery.
The film reunites Pastoll with Bolger following their previous collaboration on A Good Woman is Hard to Find, which closed FrightFest in 2019. Seven years later, they are returning to the festival in the opposite slot, opening its 2026 edition. Pastoll’s previous directing credits also include Road Games.
Bolger is joined by South Korean actor Ko Asung, familiar internationally from Bong Joon Ho’s The Host and Snowpiercer, while Yune’s credits include Smugglers and Live Stream.

Pastoll wrote and directed Nervous, with Richard Hobley serving as co-writer. Pastoll also produces alongside Junyoung Jang, while Matthew Pusti, who previously worked with the director on A Good Woman is Hard to Find, has composed the original score.
Shot entirely on location in and around Seoul, Nervous is a South Korean-UK co-production between February Films and Story Robot. Its FrightFest premiere will begin a wider European festival run, with the film subsequently heading to Lisbon for MOTELX on 4 September and Germany’s Fantasy Filmfest on 7 September.
Nervous receives its world premiere as the Opening Film of Tubi FrightFest at ODEON Leicester Square on Thursday 27 August 2026 at 5.30pm. If you want to be there to see it, get your tickets from: Frightfest.co.uk/
