LEGEND Unleashes Festive Firepower with ‘Desperado’ and ‘Starship Troopers’
LEGEND is closing out the year with a packed December schedule, unwrapping nine channel premieres and rolling out a line-up that spans cult favourites, high-octane action and glossy 90s nostalgia. The broadcaster is leaning into the festive season with a slate that mixes fan-beloved titles with crowd-pleasing genre staples, including three films that defined their decade: Mike Newell’s Donnie Brasco, Paul Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers and Robert Rodriguez’s Desperado.

The month opens with a run of star-driven thrillers anchored by familiar LEGEND favourites. On 4 December, Steven Seagal fronts The Asian Connection, a crime tale following two expats whose bank robberies land them in the crosshairs of a violent drug syndicate. Two days later, Jason Statham steps into Wild Card, playing a Las Vegas fixer whose attempt to avenge a friend spirals into a confrontation with organised crime.
The schedule continues with a splash of mythic spectacle on 13 December as Gods of Egypt arrives, bringing Gerard Butler, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Brenton Thwaites into a world of feuding deities, mortal heroes and cosmic battles. The following night, Donnie Brasco makes its long-awaited channel debut, revisiting the undercover infiltration that drew Johnny Depp’s Joe Pistone into the confidence of Al Pacino’s weary hitman Lefty Ruggiero. The film remains a standout of 90s crime cinema, grounded in the quiet tragedy beneath its undercover operations.

On 18 December, Clive Owen and Naomi Watts take centre stage in The International, a globe-trotting conspiracy thriller that pits an Interpol agent and a New York prosecutor against a banking giant with ties to war and political corruption. The tension shifts from boardrooms to mountain peaks on 20 December with Vertical Limit, the survival thriller that sends Chris O’Donnell’s climber into a race against time to rescue his trapped sister on K2.
LEGEND rounds out its Christmas period with The Fighter on 21 December, starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale as brothers forced to confront the fractures within their family while training for a career-defining boxing match. The schedule continues its focus on 90s classics with Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers on 27 December, a gleefully satirical sci-fi invasion epic following Johnny Rico’s battle against alien insects. The month concludes with Rodriguez’s Desperado on 28 December, giving Antonio Banderas free rein as the hardened mariachi seeking revenge in a sun-scorched shootout ballet.

Alongside the film slate, LEGEND is also debuting Season Four of Charlie’s Angels, airing weeknights from 4 December. The continued presence of the iconic series adds a retro TV flavour to the month’s mix, offering a counterpoint to the more explosive offerings in the primetime film slots.
With crime sagas, cult sci-fi, creature clashes, boxing drama and explosive revenge tales sharing the schedule, LEGEND’s December line-up is aimed squarely at viewers seeking familiar favourites and high-energy thrills throughout the festive season.
