Breaking Glass Pictures is set to release a blood-soaked tribute to 1980s slasher films with Butchers Bluff, arriving on digital platforms on March 11, 2025. Directed by William Instone, with Matt Rifley serving as co-director, this Texas-set nightmare revives the golden era of practical gore and relentless killers, introducing a new horror icon in the form of the Hogman—a monstrous figure whose legend has haunted a small town for decades.
The film follows a group of eager college students who set out to document the town’s urban legend for their final project. What starts as an exploration of folklore soon spirals into a grisly ordeal as the filmmakers realise the stories are more than just ghost tales. With 28 people missing over the past two decades, the town’s secrets run deeper than they ever could have imagined. As the students become prey, Butchers Bluff delivers an unflinching spectacle of carnage.
Described by Breaking Glass Pictures CEO Rich Wolff as “a relentless slasher experience that fans of the genre will devour,” the film pays homage to the golden age of horror with practical effects, brutal kills, and a creeping atmosphere of dread. Director William Instone credits Breaking Glass Pictures for seeing the film’s vision from the start, stating, “They believed in Butchers Bluff and helped give it the final polish it needed. I can’t wait for horror fans to experience this passion project.”
Boasting an impressive cast, Butchers Bluff features genre staples including Bill Oberst Jr. (3 from Hell), Paul T. Taylor (Hellraiser: Judgment), Brinke Stevens (Slumber Party Massacre), and Bill Johnson (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), alongside a fresh generation of horror talent. The film also took home multiple festival awards, winning Best Score and Best of Fest at the Ethereal Horror Film Festival, as well as Best FX in a Feature Film at the Houston Horror Film Festival.
