This Halloween, The Haunting of Hollywood, the debut feature from director Lilia Doytchinova, will premiere exclusively on Amazon. Set in the shadow of the iconic Hollywood sign, the film is a chilling exploration of ambition, mental illness, and the dark side of fame. In addition to the digital release, a special theatrical screening will take place in Los Angeles on October 31st at the Wilshire Screening Room, followed by a Q&A with the cast and crew.

The Haunting of Hollywood follows James, an aspiring director haunted by the tragic death of his mother, whose unfulfilled dreams and struggles with mental illness mirrored the city’s darker, seductive pull. His journey through Hollywood’s cutthroat world is not just a quest for success but a confrontation with the past, as the ghosts of his mother’s obsession with fame begin to intertwine with his own life. The film uses the Hollywood sign, celebrating its 100th anniversary, as a poignant symbol of dreams turned to nightmares.

Lilia Doytchinova, a filmmaker who emigrated from Bulgaria to the United States at the age of 17, brings a unique outsider’s perspective to this tale of lost dreams. After honing her skills on high-profile projects such as The Expendables franchise, Creed II, and Ray Donovan, Doytchinova steps into the spotlight with her first feature, tackling themes of mental health, the pressure of fame, and the generational impact of unfulfilled ambition.

The film has already gained recognition on the festival circuit, winning Best First-Time Director (Feature Film) at the 2024 Halicarnassus Film Festival, as well as Best Thriller at both the 2024 Golden State Film Festival and the 2024 Silicon Beach Film Festival. Its acclaim highlights Doytchinova’s skill in weaving a psychological thriller that resonates beyond its horror elements, delving into the real emotional toll of Hollywood’s relentless pursuit of stardom.

The music, much like the film itself, promises to blend suspense with a sense of enchantment, creating a haunting atmosphere that lingers long after the final frame.

As The Haunting of Hollywood makes its debut, it promises to strike a chord with those familiar with the dark undercurrents that run beneath the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles. Plus it looks like perfect viewing for All Hallow’s Eve.
