In an unexpected twist on the classic Cinderella story, the upcoming horror film Cinderella’s Curse is set to redefine the genre. Earlier today, we shared a few exclusive images from the film, and now we’re back with a particularly gruesome new look at this chilling adaptation.
The film features Chrissie Wunna, known for her roles in Exorcist Vengeance and Dinosaur Hotel 2, as the Fairy Godmother. However, this is not the kind-hearted old woman we’re familiar with from Disney’s Cinderella. This is a whole new, terrifying character.
Wunna shared with Bloody Disgusting, “The fairy godmother in our movie is cunning, cruel, and deadly. Things are going to get extremely bloody when she’s around.” She further hinted at the film’s tone, saying, “Our version of Cinderella winks towards Carrie.”
The first look at Wunna’s terrifying Fairy Godmother is now available, and as you can see from this photo, the film promises a chilling and gruesome experience.
Cinderella’s Curse is set to be released by ITN Studios in October 2023. The film is produced and directed by Louisa Warren, with a script by Harry Boxley, known for Mary Had A Little Lamb. The cast includes Kelly Rian Sanson, Chrissie Wunna, and Danielle Scott.
Warren shared her excitement about the film with Bloody Disgusting, stating, “This is an incredibly unique spin on the Cinderella we all love and know. There are going to be some truly horrific deaths by her hands. I think the gore hounds are in for a treat in my dark retelling.”
