Since then the fantastic festival has grown to become one of the most prestigious genre film festivals in Europe premiering the very best new movies from both new and established filmmakers from across the world.
This year our exclusive interview feature is back bringing you some insidious insights into the frightful folks whose horror films will be blowing audiences away at Grimmfest 2021.

Below we get some Grim Tidings from Pierre Tsigaridis writer and director of Two Witches
1.Tell us why you are at Grimmfest?
I’m very fortunate to be part of the 2021 Grimmfest edition because I’m the writer/director of the film Two Witches. I’m so excited to finally share the film with people! If you’re into witchcraft, this movie is for you!
2. How did you get into horror?
I’ve always been into horror ever since I can remember. As a young kid I would hide in dark closets to look for witches and vampires. I was never interested in kids’ movies; at age 6, I was already drawn to movies like Coppola’s Dracula or Halloween. My fascination for horror became even stronger after watching Scream. I loved everything about the intro of the first Scream movie. The killer’s MO was just the scariest and fascinating thing I had ever seen. I was so obsessed with Ghostface. I had begged my mom at the time to buy me the Ghostface mask for Halloween. I remember I would borrow my parents’ camcorder to make homemade horror films with my brother and step brother. We would reenact the kill scenes in Scream, Halloween or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The idea of “make believe” was the most creative, fun and rewarding thing I had ever experienced doing as a child. That is when I realized I wanted to become a film director.
3. What scares you the most?
Even though I liked the slasher genre a lot growing up, it doesn’t scare me as much as paranormal things. The idea of facing a vengeful ghost like Sadako in the Ring or a demon scares me way more! I think I would feel more helpless if I had to deal with an evil entity rather than a human killer made of flesh and bones. In my opinion the idea of irrational fear to me is stronger. What can’t be explained, the things we don’t know are scary to me. Why are people so afraid of the dark for example?! I think the human brain can turn anything that it doesn’t understand into incredibly scary visions. What is worse than having monsters we created in our own head, right?
4. Who or what is your favourite horror character?
My favourite horror character would have to be Ghostface from the Scream franchise because he’s the villain that left the strongest visual impression on me as a kid.
5. What is the grimmest thing you have ever seen?
The demon that visits me at night when I have sleep paralysis!
Two Witches plays on Fri, Oct 8th, 7:00 PM @ Odeon Screen 5 and you can find out more and book your ticket HERE.
