‘Leviticus’ Sets November Blu-ray Release After Acclaimed Sundance Debut
Desire becomes something deadly in Leviticus, the acclaimed queer coming-of-age horror from writer-director Adrian Chiarella, which is heading to home entertainment this month following a festival run that began at Sundance.

The Australian feature stars Joe Bird and Stacy Clausen as two teenage boys whose relationship becomes the focus of a terrifying supernatural ordeal after they are subjected to a ritual at their local church. What follows is not simply a haunting, but something far more personal: the entity pursuing them takes the form of the person each desires most.
Bird, previously seen in the fantastic Talk to Me, stars as Naim Reid, with Clausen playing Ryan Whelan. Mia Wasikowska also appears as Naim’s mother, Arlene, alongside Jeremy Blewitt, Ewen Leslie, Davida McKenzie and Nicholas Hope.

The film marks Chiarella’s feature directing debut and was produced by Causeway Films, the company behind creep-tastic title The Babadook and Talk to Me. It premiered in the Midnight section of the 2026 Sundance Film Festival before continuing onto its theatrical release.
Chiarella developed Leviticus as what he has described as a queer social horror, using supernatural genre mechanics to explore desire, repression, religious pressure and the damage caused by attempts to force people into identities that are not their own. The project also drew inspiration from films including It Follows and The Witch, while maintaining a distinctly Australian setting and perspective.
The story follows the relationship between Naim and Ryan, with the film turning intimacy itself into a source of fear. The entity can only appear as the person its victim wants most, creating a threat that becomes increasingly difficult to separate from genuine affection.
The home entertainment release also includes several new extras for viewers looking to dig further into the production. The Blu-ray features a commentary with Chiarella, an interview with the filmmaker, a joint interview with Bird and Clausen, and a making-of featurette exploring the film’s creation.

The soundtrack also features Frank Ocean’s “Self Control” over the end credits, with the track licensed for the film following approval from the artist.
Leviticus will be available to own on Blu-ray from 23 November 2026, with its digital release following on 7 December. Pre-orders are open now.
