Stuart Wheeldon | Love Horror film reviews and news

The eerie realms of gothic horror and the supernatural are being summoned in the upcoming short film Melody For Alice. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Stuart Wheeldon, known for his work on The Telephone and Starman, this latest project is currently seeking support through a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. Melody For Alice is inspired by the macabre tales of Edgar Allan Poe, and centers around the character Mr. Wallace, portrayed by veteran actor Nigel Barber. The narrative begins when Mr. Wallace acquires an ancient 78 record from a mysterious rummage shop. Little does he know, playing the record will unlock a spectral world, revealing hidden darkness and ghostly presences. The film also features Elka Lee Green as Alice, whose past roles in supernatural-themed productions make her a fitting addition to this gothic tale. Green's character is pivotal to the film’s exploration of haunting otherworldly themes, set against a backdrop of psychological intrigue. Elka Lee Green To bring this chilling story to life, Melody For Alice requires the support of horror enthusiasts and film lovers. The crowdfunding campaign offers various tiers of rewards for backers, ranging from exclusive merchandise to opportunities for behind-the-scenes access. Funding will aid in the meticulous creation of the film's eerie atmosphere, including its costume and set design, special effects, and haunting score by composer Jordan Frater, whose work is crucial to enveloping audiences in the film’s ghostly ambiance. Director Stuart Wheeldon remarks on the film’s crowdfunding efforts: "Supporting Melody For Alice is not just about funding a film; it's about bringing a piece of artistic gothic horror to life. Each contribution helps us capture the essence of Poe’s tales and share this unique cinematic experience." The campaign aims to harness the community's power to realise a vision that traditional funding avenues often overlook, especially in the niche genre of gothic horror. Supporters of the film can contribute to the project by visiting its Indiegogo page here. As Melody For Alice makes its journey from concept to screen, it promises to be a great short film addition to the gothic horror genre, intertwining classic influences with modern cinematic techniques.
