‘Trick or Treat’ Gets Long Awaited 4K Release From Toy Robot Video

Halloween is arriving early for physical media collectors as newly launched label Toy Robot Video has revealed its October slate, led by the long-awaited 4K UHD debut of cult heavy metal horror favourite Trick or Treat. Joining it on the schedule are the Blu-ray release of Tom Selleck adventure High Road to China and a newly restored edition of the influential Japanese crime thriller Manhunt, giving the label a varied trio of titles for its second month in business.

Announced on 12 August, the October line-up continues Toy Robot Video’s mission of bringing popular catalogue films back to shelves in collector-friendly editions. Created by the team behind Arrow Video, the new label focuses on accessible releases featuring restored presentations, newly commissioned artwork, OBI strips, art cards and a selection of bonus material aimed at both established collectors and newcomers to physical media.

Heading the slate is Trick or Treat, arriving in a dual-format 4K UHD and Blu-ray edition on 5 October. Originally released in 1986, the supernatural horror has become a seasonal favourite thanks to its blend of heavy metal mythology and 1980s genre filmmaking.

The film stars Marc Price, best known from Family Ties, as a teenage outsider whose deceased rock idol Sammi Curr, played by Tony Fields, returns from beyond the grave with deadly consequences. Gene Simmons of KISS and Ozzy Osbourne both make memorable appearances, while Fastway provides the film’s soundtrack. Toy Robot Video’s release features a new 4K restoration alongside hours of bonus content.

The label summed up the release with its own tongue-in-cheek description: “It’s only shock ‘n’ roll but I like it, turn the volume up to 11 for this!”

Also arriving in October is High Road to China, released on Blu-ray on 19 October. The 1983 adventure pairs Tom Selleck and Bess Armstrong in a globe-trotting tale set during the 1920s, featuring aerial action sequences, romance and a score by Academy Award-winning composer John Barry. The supporting cast includes Brian Blessed and Wilford Brimley, while Toy Robot Video’s edition includes a new 2K scan and newly produced special features.

Completing the month’s schedule is Manhunt, also released on Blu-ray on 19 October. Directed by Junya Sato and starring Ken Takakura, the Japanese action thriller became a major box office success upon its original release and later inspired John Woo’s 2017 remake. Toy Robot Video’s edition presents the film in a new high-definition restoration accompanied by fresh bonus material.

Toy Robot Video launches in September 2026 as a new subsidiary label from Arrow Films, broadening the company’s catalogue beyond its established cult and genre focus while maintaining an emphasis on premium restorations and collectible packaging. The October announcements suggest the label intends to mix horror, action, adventure and international cinema rather than concentrating on a single genre.
