’13 Souls’ Brings Paranormal Chaos to Digital This May

A teenage girl becomes connected to the victims of a decades-old apartment fire in 13 Souls, the new supernatural horror film arriving on digital platforms on 25 May through distributor Seven Tales.

Written and directed by award-winning Brazilian filmmaker Paulo Nascimento, the possession thriller blends family trauma, reincarnation themes and occult horror against the backdrop of a New Jersey cemetery haunted by a mass tragedy. The film centres on Agne, a disturbed 15-year-old portrayed by Sienna Belle, whose fractured return to her estranged family coincides with increasingly violent paranormal events.

According to the official synopsis, thirteen unidentified victims died in a devastating apartment block blaze during the 1970s and were buried together in unmarked graves after their bodies could not be identified. Years later, Agne is discovered wandering through her mother’s apartment beside her decomposing corpse before being taken in by her father Ariel, played by Tim Shelburne, and older sister Nina, portrayed by Brielle Tucker.

As Agne settles uneasily into her new surroundings near a cemetery where Ariel works as a caretaker, she develops an unexplained fascination with the graves of the fire victims. Strange disturbances soon begin consuming the household, with Agne seemingly falling under the influence of a malevolent force connected to the long-buried dead.

Nascimento, whose previous directing work includes A Oeste do Fim do Mundo, Distrito 666 and Ainda Somos os Mesmos, has built a career across drama, television and genre filmmaking in Brazil. 13 Souls marks another step into horror territory for the filmmaker, who co-wrote the screenplay alongside Brittnay Johnston and Flavio de Castro Barboza.

Canadian-born actress Sienna Belle takes the lead role following earlier projects including Game Crashers and The Taxidermist. Belle spent much of her childhood in Brazil after relocating there at the age of three and has worked professionally in both acting and music since childhood. Shelburne, meanwhile, has recently appeared in projects including Mind Over Murder and Here Love Lies.

13 Souls will be available on digital platforms from 25 May 2026.
