‘Evil Dead’ Meets Hammer Horror in Studiocanal’s Ultimate Scarefest

This Halloween, Studiocanal Presents is giving horror fans the ultimate reason to stay in and stream, with an all-killer line-up of fright favourites and cult classics. The exclusive October programming includes a triple bill of Evil Dead films, two Hammer Horror gems, and a new behind-the-scenes documentary on Alejandro Amenábar’s The Others.

The platform, which continues to carve out a reputation for curating premium cinema from across decades and genres, is positioning itself as the home of horror this season. From possessed cabins to Cornish curses, it’s a collection that celebrates both the modern and the macabre.

Leading the slate is Fede Álvarez’s 2013 Evil Dead, a ferocious reimagining of Sam Raimi’s original, with Jane Levy enduring blood-soaked torment in a secluded woodland cabin. The mayhem continues with Evil Dead II, Raimi’s deliriously inventive sequel that sees Bruce Campbell’s Ash wield a shotgun and chainsaw against demonic forces. Completing the set is 2023’s Evil Dead Rise, which shifts the chaos from the woods to an urban high-rise as sisters, played by Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, fight to survive an onslaught of Deadites.

For fans of classic horror, the platform resurrects Hammer’s Doctor Jekyll and Sister Hyde (1971), a provocative gender-bending twist on Robert Louis Stevenson’s tale starring Ralph Bates and Martine Beswick. Also streaming is The Plague of the Zombies (1966), John Gilling’s eerie Cornish-set story that helped lay the groundwork for the zombie boom that followed in the decades after its release.

The documentary A Look Back at The Others provides a reflective counterpoint to the bloodletting, with director Alejandro Amenábar and stars Nicole Kidman and Christopher Eccleston revisiting their acclaimed gothic chiller on its twentieth anniversary.

Outside the horror line-up, Studiocanal Presents is also offering high-octane biographical drama this month, with Ron Howard’s Formula 1 thriller Rush, starring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl, and Oliver Stone’s psychedelic rock epic The Doors, with Val Kilmer’s uncanny turn as Jim Morrison.

It remains a hub for film enthusiasts, combining prestige titles, contemporary gems and expertly remastered classics in stunning 4K. Available on Apple TV and Prime Video, the service adds new films each month, supported by curated commentary and podcasts that celebrate the craft of filmmaking.

With October’s slate, Studiocanal Presents reaffirms its status as a destination for audiences who crave both quality and nostalgia. Whether it’s Raimi’s wild camera work, Hammer’s gothic flair or Amenábar’s spectral storytelling, the platform’s Halloween offering delivers something for every kind of horror fan.
