‘Walking Against the Rain’ Set for Digital Release

After a triumphant festival circuit that began with a sold-out world premiere at FrightFest, Scott Lyus’s debut feature film Walking Against the Rain is finally making its way to digital platforms in the UK and Europe this summer. The film has garnered significant acclaim, winning Best Overall Film at the Nightmares Film Festival and making notable appearances at PanicFest in the US and the Trieste Science+Fiction Film Festival in Italy.
Walking Against the Rain is a gripping tale of survival and human connection, set against a desolate landscape. The story follows two strangers, Blair and Tommy, who are desperately trying to find each other while navigating a barren wasteland. Their only means of communication are two rapidly depleting battery-operated radio mics, and they are relentlessly pursued by a terrifying new monster known as ‘The Forsaken’. As they journey through this unforgiving terrain, they must confront their own losses and rediscover their trust in humanity.

Director Scott Lyus described the film as a unique blend of character-driven narrative and old-school practical effects monster movie. “From inception, I knew a character-driven exploration into loss, grief and human connection, hidden within an old-school practical effects monster movie wouldn’t be for everyone. But following an overwhelmingly positive reaction from our North American release, I am beyond excited to finally bring our character-driven creature feature to UK genre fans,” Lyus said. “Walking Against the Rain is a project born out of love and passion to create something a little different. It’s a monster movie that promises incredible practical creature effects but also a heartfelt and emotional character study. And I am beyond excited to see the film find a whole new audience in the UK and Europe.”
The film features a talented cast including Sophia Eleni (The Shamrock Spitfire, Call the Midwife), Reece Douglas (Cruel Summer, Waterloo Road), Johnny Vivash (Freeze, How To Kill Monsters), Francesca Louise White, Diane Spencer, and James Swanton (The First Omen, Stop Motion). The full-body practical creature effects were crafted by BIFA award-winning FX designer Dan Martin (Stop Motion, Tarot, Infinity Pool), promising a visually stunning and authentically terrifying experience.
Walking Against the Rain is set to hit all popular Video on Demand (VoD) platforms on July 29th. Ahead of its release, horror enthusiasts and genre fans can catch a glimpse of the film’s chilling atmosphere and gripping storyline in the official trailer, which you can watch below.

The film’s journey from a passion project to a celebrated festival favourite is a testament to the dedication and creativity of its cast and crew. With its blend of intense character drama and masterfully executed practical effects, Walking Against the Rain stands out as a unique and compelling entry in the horror genre.
