‘Witch’ Conjures Up Terrifying Folk Horror

Witch Horror Movie 2024

This Spring, UK audiences are invited to step back in time to the chilling era of witch hunts with the premiere of the new folk horror film Witch, set to be released digitally by 101 Films on April 29, 2024. Directed by Craig Hinde and Marc Zammit, who also co-wrote the script with David Baboulen, the film promises to deliver a spellbinding mix of terror and historical drama.

Set in a small English town in 1575, Witch tells the harrowing story of Twyla (Sarah Alexandra Marks), a devoted wife and mother wrongfully accused of witchcraft. As the dark cloud of a potential death sentence looms over her, Twyla’s husband William (Ryan Spong) embarks on a perilous quest to prove her innocence and uncover the real source of the occult happenings.

The film draws on themes deep into the fabric of a time when any minor wrongdoing could be attributed to the supernatural, and the slightest accusation could lead to death. William’s journey exposes him to historical accounts of malevolence, blurring the lines between past and present, and leading him to question the very nature of the evil he is chasing.

Featuring a robust cast including Fabrizio Santino, known from Captain America: The First Avenger, Russell Shaw, Daniel Jordan, and Anto Sharp, “Witch” is set to be a compelling exploration of fear, devotion, and the destructive forces of superstition and malice.
