‘Dagr’ Set to Haunt Cinemas and Digital Realms

This April, cinema screens across the globe are set to showcase Dagr, an ingeniously crafted found footage folk horror that melds comedy with the macabre. Crafted by the dynamic duo of Fizz and Ginger Films, this film is a chilling exploration of what happens when fame-seeking YouTubers confront the paranormal, awakening a murderous druid ghost from the 18th century.
The narrative centers on characters portrayed by Ellie Duckles (The A-List) and Riz Moritz, who, in their quest for viral fame, masquerade as caterers at a Goddard-esque advertisement shoot in a historical 18th-century house. Their plan to covertly pilfer from the production takes a terrifying turn as they find themselves trapped in a haunted abode, tormented by the spirit of a deadly druid.

Dagr boasts a stellar ensemble including Matt Barber of Downton Abbey fame, Tori Butler-Hart known for Infinitum: Subject Unknown (alongside the legendary Sir Ian McKellen), Emma King, Graham Butler, Hattie Chapman, and Luca Thompson. The project is steered by the visionary Matthew Butler-Hart, who directed, co-wrote, and produced the film alongside Tori Butler-Hart for Fizz and Ginger Films, with executive production credits including Game of Thrones star Conleth Hill, Lord of the Rings star Ian McKellen, and the illustrious theatre producer Anthony Pye-Jeary.
Since its limited cinema run in the UK which started on 7th February at Picturehouse and The Light cinemas, Dagr will now premiere on digital platforms in North America, Australia, and New Zealand from 2nd April through The Horror Collective, followed by a digital release in the UK and Ireland on 8th April via The Movie Partnership.
Fizz and Ginger Films, established in 2009 by Matthew and Tori Butler-Hart, have left an indelible mark on the indie film scene with critically acclaimed projects such as Two Down and The Isle. Celebrated as Screen International ‘Stars of Tomorrow,’ the Butler-Harts’ cinematic journey is also documented in a publication by Applause, detailing their ascent in the world of independent cinema.
