Love Horror: Tell us about your film?
Nade Target: This Pretty Face focuses on the social stigma of beauty and how it is often objectified a certain way. I wanted to explore the idea of an atmospheric horror film set in a place where beauty is constantly observed and obsessed over with.
Love Horror: How did you get into making horror movies?
Nade Target: It started to gain an interest into making horror films in 2012 with a short film called A Deal for Red Eyes. I also found quickly that you can explore themes like beauty obsession and stretch out characters and ideas far more with the horror genre, that’s what sparked my interest more so.
Love Horror: What is your view on horror in 2016 and how would you change it?
Nade Target: It’s a very good year for horror films, we got The Witch, The Neon Demon, Green Room and Don’t Breathe. I think we had a strong last couple of years of great Indie Horror Films. I noticed more genre specific horror films like The Witch harnessing classic elements of a 1960’s horror film and would love to add more genre pictures to the screen.
Love Horror: What is your favourite horror film and why?
Nade Target: It’s got to be Ridley Scott’s Alien, terrified me growing up and just the sheer suspense and terror in the film is outstanding, it also takes its time too. It doesn’t need to rush; it fleshes out these truck drivers in space and gives you something new and terrifying to watch every time the crew interacts with the Alien or with each other. I think it’s a horror masterpiece.
Love Horror: If Hollywood came knocking and gave you anything you wanted what movie would you make and who would it star?
Nade Target: I would want to make a Kaiju movie where bounty hunters travel in Mech-Suits hunting down giant monsters until one of them gets heavily damaged and abandon and have to find their way back to civilization before being devoured by one of the Kaiju’s. Only because she is my favorite actress and I would love to see her in a kick-ass action role, I would love Carey Mulligan to star. She is absolutely brilliant.
