Tell us about your film?
Kill Ben Lyk is a thriller/dark comedy in the tone of films like “Fargo”, “Shaun of the dead”, “Zombieland” or “Kiss kiss bang bang”. Ben Lyk (Eugene Simon – Lancel Lannister in Game of thrones) is a young British youtuber living in Shoreditch who finds out that in the last 24 hours three people have been murdered in London, all by the name of Ben Lyk. Scotland Yard decides to gather together the eight remaining Ben Lyks located in London until they can figure out who’s after them and why. Will Ben Lyk become the most dangerous name since Sarah Connor ? What would you do if your namesake had been killed in your city ?
How did you get into making horror movies?
I love the idea of giving opposite emotions to the audience, i think it’s great when you find yourself being scared and laughing during the same film.
What is your view on horror in 2018 and how would you change it?
I like what companies like Blumhouse do when they give directors a lot of freedom to tell original stories like “Split” , or ” The visit”, and it gets even better when the films have a deeper message like “Get out” , i’d like to see more of these”social horror” kind of films.
What is your favourite horror film and why?
Hard to name only one : ” Shaun of the dead” for its great mix of comedy and horror, and “The Thing” because it ages well like a good (french) wine.
If Hollywood came knocking and gave you anything you wanted what movie would you make and who would it star?
A badass version of Arsene Lupin (a gentleman thief by french writer Maurice Leblanc) with Idriss Elba.
