Fractured Thoughts from director Jamie Patterson

Fractured is a brilliant British horror that blew our minds last year and has stayed with us since. Available free on Amazon Prime right now we have teamed up with the makers of the movie for a series of exclusive interviews offering an insight into the fantastic film.

Having won 10 awards to date including a record-breaking 6 at the British Horror Film Festival more importantly Fractured received the Love Horror award at the 2017 Unrestricted View Horror Film Festival.

Directed by award winning filmmaker Jamie Patterson and written by Christian J Hearn, from Brighton-based Jump Start Productions Fractured stars April Pearson, Karl Davies and Louisa Lytton and the movie follows Rebecca and Michael who decide to take a weekend getaway and drive into the isolated countryside. They arrive at their cottage unscathed, but Rebecca can’t help but feel like someone is watching.

Below director Jamie Patterson offers up their Fractured Thoughts for your enjoyment!

1. How did you get into making movies?
Jamie Patterson: I’ve pretty much wanted to make movies since I saw my first Bond movie when I was a kid. I used to watch ‘Live and Let Die’ on repeat every day. I didn’t know what a director was until I was about fourteen, as soon as I found out I knew that’s what I wanted to do, tell stories for a living.

2. Tell us about your involvement with Fractured?
Jamie Patterson: I love horror films, it’s my favourite genre. It’s become a saturated market though, tone and atmosphere seems to have disappeared and it’s been replaced with this torture porn generation. Don’t get me wrong, I loved films like ‘Hostel’ and ‘Wolf Creek’ but it’s all the lazy, half hearted, rip offs that I struggled with. I think that’s where Fractured came from, the idea of making a cleaver horror film that was all about atmosphere. I wrote a forty page script which was utter shit except for one thing that was quite clever. I had a meeting with Christian and he managed to produce what is still one of the best scripts I’ve ever read.

3. What scares you the most?
Jamie Patterson: Crocodiles. Scary fuckers.

4. What is next for you?
Jamie Patterson: I’ve just wrapped on a movie called ‘Justine’. It was written by Jeff Murphy who won a Bafta for his TV show ‘Hinterland’. It’s a beautiful love story set in Brighton, very different to Fractured. It stars Tallulah Haddon, Sophie Reid, Steve Oram and Sian Reese-Williams. Next I have a movie called ‘God’s Petting You’, which starts shooting in January.

5. What is your most fractured thought?
Jamie Patterson: I would love to plan a bank robbery. I genuinely think I could get away with it. I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing.
