Four FrightFest Facts From Eric Pennycoff director of SADISTIC INTENTIONS

The Twentieth FrightFest is here so obviously our exclusive interview feature Four FrightFest Facts From… is back with a vengeance. Below we hear from Eric Pennycoff director of SADISTIC INTENTIONS and you can read more FrightFest Facts from 2019 and beyond by clicking HERE.

1. Tell us about your film?
Sadistic Intentions is about a young ambitious stoner and an aging metal musician who are invited to the home of a mutual friend late one night. Only that friend is nowhere to be found, leaving these guests to endure one another until his ultimate arrival. As these two polar opposites begin to warm up to one another, the audience learns that their mutual friend might be closer than he claims. Relationships are formed, secrets are exposed and intentions are revealed in what I’d call a blood soaked, thunder-struck romantic comedy for serial killers.

2. How did you get into making horror movies?
From an early age I’d been obsessed with Halloween and haunted house but I did not begin making horror films until around the time I interned at Glass Eye Pix. That’s where I was exposed to the ins and outs of producing low budget films. The early work of Larry Fessenden, Graham Reznick, Ti West and James Felix McKinney was what really jump started my engine and made me want to take it seriously.

3. What film would you love to see screened at FrightFest and why?
Troll Hunter! So really, I just wish I could go back in time and see it when it screened Fright Fest in 2011. It’s still one of my favorite movies of the past decade and seeing it on an imax screen would be a dream.

4. If your life was made into a horror film, what would it be called and who would play the starring role?
“The Breaking Back” because my back feels like it’s breaking more and more every night due to our dogs sleeping in bed with us. And one of them keeps getting bigger I swear. I’d re-animate Harold Ramis and have him direct it since he did a good job directing Groundhog Day. I’d have Shaq play me because the bigger the actor, the funnier and more sad the movie would become.
