Five FrightFest Facts From Jonathan Straiton Co-Writer and Director of Night of Something Strange

111. Tell us about your film?
It’s a horror comedy throwback to 80’s flicks such as the Blob (1988), Night of the Creeps, and Return of the Living Dead. Synop- Teenage friends out for beach week get unexpectedly detoured to an isolated motel where a deadly STD virus now runs rampant, turning those infected into the living dead.

2. How did you get into making horror movies?
I tried film school but soon dropped out to pursue making films on my own. I made a few indie dramas which kind of went nowhere so I ventured into genre films and rediscovered my love for horror films and the rest is history.

3. What film would you love to see screened at FrightFest and why?Unknown
If we are talking films of the 2016 lineup I would have to say “Attack of the Lederhosenzombies” because it looks like my kind of movie! But if we are talking any film then “Rogue One” because I want to see it super bad!

4. If you could create your own award to give at the FrightFest, what would it be and why?
The covenant “Holy Shit I Made A Fucking Movie Award!” it would be for every poor bastard that dragged their film across the finish line! Because it’s one of the hardest things you will ever do. It’s child birth for men haha.

5. If your life was made into a horror film, what would it be called and who would play the starring role?
It would be called- “No my Movie Didn’t Play at Fucking Sundance!” Starring Marky Mark because he’s gangsta!
