I was a preteen in the 1990s when R.L Stine’s “Fear Street” series became insanely popular. And I, like other horror-loving kids, couldn’t get enough of the books.
I either purchased or borrowed from the library as many of them as I could get my grubby little hands on. So, to say I was bit excited when I heard that Mr. Stine is returning to the horror-filled halls of Shadyside High School is an understatement.
In fact, the first book “Party Games” was released today, September 30, and is the first of six new books in the “Fear Street” series. The premise of “Party Games” centers around Brendan Fear, a Shadyside High School senior who throws a birthday party at his family’s summerhouse located on Fear Island. Of course, with a name like Fear Island, you just know something bad is going to go down.
R.L. Stine, who is now 70 years old, is responsible for over 300 novels aimed at children and teens. Two of his much-loved series, “Fear Street” and “Goosebumps”, have a huge fan base, and have sold a total of more than 80 million copies. This has resulted in various TV shows and made-for-television movies based on the books.
