I Spit on Your Grave remake at Celluloid Screams

We have just heard from a friend at Celluloid Screams Horror film Festival that a late night showing of the 2010 remake of I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE is now confirmed for Saturday 23rd at 11.50pm.

Directed by Steven R. Monroe it follows a young writer who is brutally assaulted and left for dead and embarks on a journey of bloody revenge against her attackers.

This remake of one of the most notorious exploitation films of all time is just as brutal and harrowing as its predecessor, and contains scenes of violence that may disturb some viewers. You have been warned…

I Spit On Your Grave remake is both inferior and superior to the 1978 original. In the original, Camille Keaton is more evil and (this was way before Basic Instinct) she uses her sexuality to seduce two out of her rapists, even have sex with another and when he climaxes she strangles him. She is more naked than dressed in the original.
This new version is very different, it is not as risky and controversial as the original (the torture scenes may shock audiences unfamiliar with Martyrs, Hostel, The Passion, etc) but has some humour and a bigger budget and it is superior to the original in the sense that all actors act well. The rape scenes are less graphic and shorter and the revenge more gruesome. However, when it comes down to it both versions are selling us the same old thing: an eye for an eye, revenge is mine sort of film. Soon the whole world will be blind!
