The Abertoir Horror Festival Announces Slasherific Opening Film

Appropriately announced on the 13th August 2018, plans are now in full swing for The Abertoir Horror Festival’s 13th Year…and you guessed it…festival organisers Gaz Bailey and Nia Edwards-Behi are treating festival attendees to six days of Slasher Movie Mayhem for this year’s theme.

Opening the festival on Tuesday the 13th November will be a screening of the camp cult classic and superbly sleazy, Sleepaway Camp (1983). Robert Hiltzik’s warped slasher flick introduced iconic cult star, Felissa Rose into the horror movie fold, however it is most famed for its jaw-dropping twist ending which the festival advises at all costs to avoid spoilers if you haven’t seen it already!

Not only that, Wales’s Number One Horror Festival have unveiled their closing event which is going to be a real scream as Comedian Rob Kemp will bring his ferociously funny, acclaimed comedy/musical show, ‘The Elvis Dead’ to the Aberystwyth Arts Centre Stage.

Taken from their official Facebook page, find out more about what the blood-curdling Camp Abertoir has in store from the 13th-18th November 2018 in the press release below.

Passes will be available to purchase on Monday the 3rd September from the Aberystwyth Arts Centre Box Office or by calling 01970 623232. You may be in with a chance of booking through Love Horror’s own Welsh Demoness (Aka. Hayley Alice Roberts).

Keep an eyeball out on their official website and social media pages for more announcements to come…!

It’s August the 13th, which means it’s time to start revealing what we’ve got in store for you this year! It’s our 13th festival, and what better genre to celebrate than the slasher movie – we invite you all to join us at Camp Abertoir on November 13th for six days of the best brand new movies and cult films, guests, special events, talks and loads more!

To set the tone for this year’s festival, we will be opening the gates with a screening of the brilliantly entertaining slasher movie Sleepaway Camp…and if you haven’t seen it before, avoid reading spoilers at all costs!

The festival will be closing on Sunday 18th November not with a film, but a musical show…comedian Rob Kemp and his award-winning comedy act The

Elvis Dead. Rev up the Delta and come on a trip to a cabin in the Tennessee backwoods via Graceland, to witness cult classic horror movie Evil Dead 2 reinterpreted through the songs of Elvis Presley (!). It really is what it sounds like! A hilarious, thoroughly enjoyable way to close our 13th edition, and one that we know you’ll all love!

Abertoir the 13th will be journeying deep into the slasher genre in our own unique style, and if you’re wondering where Friday the 13th is in all this, just you wait!

More will be revealed soon, including our guest of honour, but in the meantime we can announce that full six day passes will be just £60 and be on sale via the Aberystwyth Arts Centre on September 3rd. So for now, get the camping bags ready for a one-way journey to Camp Abertoir that you’ll never forget!
