Grimm brings out The Whisper in the Darkness
Grimm Up North in collaboration with THE HORRORSHOW.TV are proud to announce the UK release of The Whisper in the Darkness out now.
Produced in 2010, THE WHISPERER IN DARKNESS was lovingly crafted by a collection of stalwart HP Lovecraft Society members, as part of their continuing mission to faithfully adapt the author’s oeuvre from the page to the screen.
THE WHISPERER IN DARKNESS, Directed by Sean Branney, is considered by many critics to be the most authentic movie adaptation of Lovecraft’s writing and is presented in sumptuous vintage style; the elegant black and white cinematography makes THE WHISPERER IN DARKNESS look and feel like a 1930’s classic universal horror movie akin to Frankenstein, Dracula and King Kong.
THE WHISPERER IN DARKNESS is based on H.P Lovecraft’s science fiction/horror novella which was originally published in 1931. The film follows the weird journey of real life Folklore professor of the Miskatonic University Albert Wilmarth (Matt Foyer) as he delves into the legends of strange creatures that are said to inhabit the most remote mountains of Vermont.
After farmer Henry Akeley (Barry Lynch) sends tales and photograph’s of otherworldly footprints and grotesque creatures found in surrounding rivers, Wilmarth arrives in Vermont to uncover terrifying truths behind these legends, which extend to visiting strangers from the outer space and the darkest pits of hell.
WHISPERER IN DARKNESS has screened and won awards at many international film festivals including Chicago International Film Festival, Grimmfest Manchester, Warsaw International Film Festival, Buffalo Film Festival, Sheffield International Film Festival, Ramaskirk Opppdal Film Festival, Night Visions Film Festival, Razor Reel Festival of Fantastic Film, Renovation Film Festival (WINNER: Top Horror Film Prize), Fantasia Film Festival, PIFAN Film Festival, RioFan Film Festival, Fantaspoa Film Festival, South Side Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, Imagine Festival of Fantastic Film, Belfast International Film Festival, SFF-Rated Film Festival (WINNER: Best Director Audience Award).
