Green Room on Blu-ray

1Green Room was one of the best horrors of 2015 with its simple shocking set up and no holds barred violence that’s why I gave it 4.5 out of 5 and in my review HERE and that’s why I was so excited to hear it was coming to Blu-ray.

Fast paced and intense Green Room, takes the audience on a relentless ride with the story focussing on a young punk band who, whilst surviving on the road, head off to perform at a remote gig. After finishing their set, the band soon discovers a much darker side to the venue and the people who inhabit it.

1111Forced to take drastic action to survive the night, the band soon find themselves trapped in the Green Room with no way out. As the night spirals out of control it becomes clear the club owner only has one thing on his mind: elimination of the whole band.

The slow amping up of the tension and terror works wonderfully allowing an explosive third act that is much darker than might be expected. Avoiding complete stereotypes either side Green Room has many nuanced characters excelling far beyond the sound bite friendly ‘Punks vs Nazi’s’ tagline many mundane marketing mongrels may have labelled it as.

Directed by Jeremy Saulnier whose minimalistic revenge thriller Blue Ruin) the film stars a fantastic young cast including the late Anton Yelchin (Star Trek), Imogen Poots (Need for Speed), Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development), Callum Turner (Victor Frankenstein) and Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders) as well as the legendary Patrick Stewart who takes the helm as the dark and chilling club owner.

Alongside the amazing movie the Blu-ray comes with a trailer and a ten minute behind the scenes feature entitled Into the Pit: The making of Green Room. This not only has interviews with all the cast and crew including the sadly departed Anton Yelchin but tons of behind the scenes footage including clips of The Ain’t Rights, the movies fake band, playing at the cast party.

Green Room is out on Blu-ray and DVD on 19th September and on Digital HD on the 12th September and you can win a copy in our great competition right HERE
