Terminator 2 Extras Review

After its run in the cinemas in a new 3D form the awesome Terminator 2 is back now on Blu-ray and looking better than ever. Although we reviewed the film right HERE this new release is packed with more extras than a T1000 and we wanted to give you a special look at all of them.

Having originally hit British screens in 1991, complete with groundbreaking special effects, this became Arnold Schwarzenegger’s (Total Recall, Predator) most iconic role to date, as well as one of the most quotable scripts of the decade.

If you don’t know the plot then first where the hell have you been and second here it is. It has been 10 years since the events of Terminator. Sarah Connor’s (Linda Hamilton The Terminator, Dante’s Peak) ordeal is only just beginning as she struggles to protect her son John (Edward Furlong American History X, Pecker), the future leader of the human resistance against the machines, from a new Terminator (Robert Patrick Walk the Line, ‘The X Files’), sent back in time to eliminate John Connor while he’s still a child. Sarah and John don’t have to face this terrifying threat alone however. The human resistance have managed to send them an ally, a warrior from the future ordered to protect John Connor at any cost.

Before we get knee deep in extras like Arnie in the larva lets talk about the crystal clear restoration! The original 35mm negative was scanned and then restored in 4k at Deluxe L.A., under the supervision of Geoff Burdick from Light storm. The film was calibrated in 4k by Skip, James Cameron’s colorist, at Technicolor Hollywood, with a selection of the best 35mm prints from the film’s first release.

The film was then converted into 3D by Stereo D (Star Wars,Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jurassic World). James Cameron’s team oversaw the 3D conversion from start to finish. This highly experienced and award-winning team had already supervised Titanic’s 3D conversion and is currently working on the Avatar sequels

T2: Reprogramming The Terminator is by far the best feature on the Blu-ray and it is also the newest. A 55-minute documentary on the making of T2 including all the information and behind the scenes footage you could ever want it offers a candid view of the film from the people who made it looking back 26 years ago.

With exclusive interviews with Arnold Schwarzenegger, James Cameron, Edward Furlong and many more of the cast and crew it offers a brand new insight into this amazing film. Sadly Linda Hamilton is not involved but this doesn’t stop there being some sensational stories told from the gang Furlong especially and Mario Kassar, one of the most important people in getting the film made, also has some tales to tell.

The second making of documentary is a 30 minute doc from 1993 that was featured on the 2003 edition and although not as complete as the new one still warrants watching especially if you are a hardcore fan and who isn’t.

More interesting however is Feature Commentaries 1 with 23 members of Cast and Crew as well as  a full commentary with director James Cameron & co-author William Wisher. The two of them add tons of entertainment to the film with hilarious anecdotes and tales of Terminator 2 that you will have never heard or believe!

Last up we have a two Deleted Scenes available with or without audio commentary and then all the trailers for the film including the latest T2:3D trailer. Overall this is an amazing release worth it for the film alone if you don’t have it but even if you do the quality and the array of added material make it even more desirable. You’ll be back time and time again to watch it I guarantee!

If your not convinced here is a new TERMINATOR 2 Featurette starring Arnold Schwarznegger, Linda Hamilton and Robert Patrick to give you a taster.
