The History of Horror Trailers

The earliest horror trailers can be traced back to the 1910s and 1920s, when silent films were the norm. During this time, trailers were used primarily as a way to preview upcoming films, and they were often shown before other films or in between reels.

It wasn’t until the 1930s and 1940s, with the rise of sound films, that trailers began to take on a life of their own. With the added element of sound, trailers could now feature dialogue, sound effects, and music, making them much more immersive and effective.

In the 1950s and 1960s, as the film industry continued to evolve and grow, trailers became increasingly sophisticated. Studios began to put more effort into crafting trailers that would grab the attention of audiences and create excitement for the films they represented.
