FRIDAY 26TH – ENGLISH PREMIERE – FRANCESCA
Director: Luciano Onetti. Cast: Raul Gederlini, Silvana Grippaldi, Gustavo Dallesandro, Luis Emilio Rodriguez. Argentina 2015. 80 mins.
A visually striking, totally amazing and gorgeous-looking homage to the Italian Giallo genre, director Luciano Onetti’s tribute to Mario Bava, Dario Argento, Sergio Martino and Lucio Fulci is an absolute must-see for all lovers of Spaghetti Shock. A psychopath stalks the city cleaning it of “impure and damned souls”. Moretti and Succo are the mismatched detectives tasked with resolving these Dante-esque crimes. Little do they know that secrets to the murderous mystery will be revealed by Francesca, a little girl who was abducted 15 years ago but has now reappeared to help solve the chilling conundrum.

But when he suggests learning to live with the ghosts, Dan hires an industrial-grade exorcist to eliminate the spectral vermin. But Dan soon realizes ridding his home of evil won’t be that simple, especially as his ‘poltergeist assassin’ is a complete psycho in this absurdly funny and painfully scary haunted house comedy horror. .

Pinder travels to Yellowstone in a compelling chase for truth behind a crime that should have rocked the nation. How did a guilty man go free? In his hunt for answers Pinder risks his own life when he finds evidence that could re-open the case years later.

Frustrated art teacher Benavidez is sick of living in the shadow of his formidable artist father and seeks refuge at his psychiatrist’s house where equally tormented creative spirits live in the basement in return for producing artworks sold at elite auction. As the immense mansion transforms into a bizarre maze, with its endless corridors and weird rooms a reflection of Benavidez’ tortured soul, true horror lies at the labyrinth’s end.

On the torrentially rainy night of October 2, 1968, in an isolated bus station five hours outside of Mexico City a man is getting impatient waiting for the next bus to arrive to take him to his wife who is in labour. Soon a pregnant woman runs in determined to catch any bus away from an abusive relationship. One by one other strangers enter the drenched station… and then the weird events begin. Convulsive fits are followed by physical transformations causing fear and paranoia in director Isaac Ezban’s valentine to ‘The Twilight Zone’, vintage American sci-fi and Mexican anti-establishment history.

As the three close in on Danny, Nicholas’ behaviour becomes increasingly erratic and violent, and Julia and Calvin must decide whether to go through with Nicholas’ deadly plan to see him suffer. An exploration into the harrowing consequences and impact one tragic act of seemingly random violence can have on society at large.

He retreats to the remote Scottish Highlands hoping to overcome his fear of Ravens, the dark creatures that populate his visions, but, in this bleak wilderness, his nightmares manifest into an enemy more powerful than he could ever have imagined. He must battle these monstrous entities as well as his inner demons to keep his life, and reclaim his sanity.

The Hallows Estate is on alert as strange graffiti tags with messages declaring the streets will be taken over on Halloween begin to appear on walls around the place, along with sightings of strange figures lurking in the shadows. One of the gangs responsible for the serious anti-social behaviour that gives the estate a bad name decides to take these threats head on and ignore the curfew on Halloween night. But whoever this new threat is, they seem to have the very night on their side as they make good on their promise of claiming the streets by frightening and violent means.

Michael is a basically decent guy with a pregnant girlfriend, great friends – and one massive drug problem. Because he missed his own Las Vegas bachelor party being too stoned, his four besties decide to kidnap him for a weekend of roughing it in the California wilderness. Caught off guard by this surprise camping trip and his nose candy supply dwindling, Michael is shocked when his buddies start being ritually murdered one by one. Suspecting it’s the vicious drug dealer he cheated getting bloody revenge, Michael’s life swirls out of all control as the real truth is revealed.

In the midst of her exile and emotional flashbacks to the past, she runs across two more survivors Chris and Olivia, a stepfather and daughter who remind her of her happy history. As one tentatively becomes three, and tensions start to rear their heads, Ann must make the monumental decision whether or not to trust or love again..

Six school friends meet up for a fourth of July celebration on a remote island expecting a harmless fun-filled weekend. One brings some cocaine along to get the partying really started. What they don’t know is the drug is not what it seems; it’s actually a new bioactive compound peddled by a sadistic right-wing terrorist organisation. Anyone consuming it is then exposed to a virus causing fits of psychotic rage, mind-bending chaos and cannibalistic murder. Only Brie refused to partake and now she must fight to survive as everyone around her, including her fiancé, tries to savagely kill her.
